Karen brings a unique background and skill set to any project with which she is involved. She is able to combine her experience as an award-winning sales leader and her training in coaching and organization development to credibly work with leaders in any organization.Driven by a passion to help others maximize their strengths and potential, she delights in assisting organizations and individuals to achieve their goals.
Highlights of Karen's career include serving as the head of professional development for the US Oncology Sales Division of Roche Pharmaceuticals. She recently retired from her position as Director of Commercial Leadership Development at Regeneron, a biotech company based in Tarrytown, NY. Karen created and developed this position to meet the needs of a rapidly growing and changing organization. In this role, she established and implemented programs for leaders at all levels and acted as coach, mentor and adviser to leaders within the commercial organization. Before creating and assuming this position, Karen led the sales team that she hired and developed to the number one position in the country for three years in a row.
Karen received her Master's Degree in Organization Management and Development from Fielding Graduate University and holds a second Master's Degree in Allied Health Services from the University of North Florida. She earned her undergraduate degree from Indiana University, where she graduated with honors.
Karen is certified in several assessments, which she uses in her coaching practice and workshops, including EQi 2.0®️ and EQi 360™️, Thinking Intentions Profile™️, Everything DiSC®️ and The Leadership Challenge®️ and C-IQ (Conversational Intelligence). In addition, she is a coach certified by the International Coach Federation.
Michael R. Vanderpool, Esq.
Michael R. Vanderpool is an experienced board consultant and an award winning business attorney. Having served on, represented and advised more than 20 boards, he has a wealth of practical experience in how boards work and the solutions to the problems that plague them. Mike has served as a CEO and has chaired several boards and governance committees.
Mike served as the chairman of the board of a large chamber of commerce. He has also served as the vice-chairman of a health system's board of trustees and the inaugural chairman of a $35 million performing arts center. He chaired the governance committees of the United Way of the National Capital Area and the George Mason University Foundation boards for several years. For the past five years, Mr. Vanderpool has been an adjunct professor in the school of management at George Mason University, teaching in the master’s program. In addition, he serves on the advisory board of the School of Business at the University of Mary Washington.
Mike is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Penn State University and received his law degree from Georgetown University. His personal law practice centers on advising business and municipal clients. He has been awarded the prestigious AV rating from Martindale Hubble based upon peer reviews. Virginia Business Magazine and Smart CEO Magazine have recognized him as a "legal elite" attorney. Mike has appeared on television and radio shows in the Washington, DC Metropolitan market and has lectured extensively on leadership.
