Signature Success approaches strategic planning from a whole new perspective. First, we recognize our job is that of facilitator and coach, not that of author. We work with organizations to help them develop plans that are specific to their situation, their mission, and their values. In doing so, we focus on using different thinking styles and constructive conflict techniques to help the organization engage in an exciting, fast paced exercise to create their own plan.
As an example, we reject the use of the long-in-the-tooth SWOT analysis as being too negative and formulaic. It does not engage the talents of those participating in the strategic plan process. As an alternative, we have developed the SO What℠ process and an executive coach based approach, asking critical probing questions that help participants become fully engaged. In this way, we serve as coaches and teachers, rather than merely facilitators.
